Storm Jorge blew hard across the country at the weekend forcing a postponement of Mayo’s NFL Division One Round 5 clash with Kerry at MacHale Park until Sunday afternoon. When the match finally got going it proved to be a game of two halves, with Kerry utterly dominant in the opening exchanges while a brave Mayo comeback in the second half came up short by just a single point.
In this latest episode of the Mayo News football podcast we review the narrow loss to Kerry. Hosts Rob Murphy and I are joined by Edwin McGreal of the Mayo News as we try to make sense of a game in which Mayo had played both very badly and very well. Then we go in-game with Rob and me to hear about the key passages in this topsy-turvy contest.
Post-game Rob gets the thoughts of Mayo News columnist Sean Rice and we also hear post-match reaction from Mayo manager James Horan and his Kerry counterpart Peter Keane. Rob also catches up with Alan Dillon to get his views on the game and where the result leaves Mayo as the battle to avoid relegation nears its decisive phase.
