Hot on the heels of last Sunday’s Connacht Championship opener against Leitrim, Mayo are back in action this coming Sunday. This time it’s a provincial semi-final meeting at Dr Hyde Park with defending Connacht champions Roscommon and in this episode of the Mayo News football podcast we preview the big match.
Host Rob Murphy introduces the podcast and then it’s straight over to Mayo News sports editor Mike Finnerty who called to see Mayo News columnist Sean Rice at his Islandeady home to get his perspective on Sunday’s game. After that Rob gets the thoughts of special guest Kevin McStay, a man uniquely placed to consider the strengths and weaknesses of the two teams that are set to lock horns on Sunday.
To round off this preview episode, I join Rob and Mike to chat about how James Horan’s team are likely to approach this crunch knockout tie and to consider Mayo’s chances of making it to a Connacht final for the first time since 2015.
