The club Championships get going next weekend and, in advance of this, Mayo GAA TV is back online today, with a match being streamed on the service this evening.
The game in question is a League one, between Westport and Breaffy, and it’s being streamed live on the Mayo GAA TV service from 5.30pm. The match is free to watch and further details on it are here.
It was announced during the summer that Mayo GAA had appointed Stream Sport as their provider of streaming services for club games this year. It was stated then that the intention was to stream up to thirty club matches, including all four SFC quarter-finals, the two semi-finals and the final, as well as the hurling decider.
Last year, in the midst of the Covid restrictions, was when streaming live matches became a central part of the experience of following club action within the county. Although supporters can once again attend matches – and I hope to catch an opening round Championship clash myself next weekend – the option to watch matches online is still a very appealing one, in particular for those who for whatever reason aren’t able to attend as well as for the many of us who live outside the county.
I’m looking forward to tuning into this evening’s match myself and will be taking in plenty of the Championship action online as well over the coming weeks. There’s nothing like a bit of football to ease the pain of a football result.
