Happy New Year to all and sundry from a rather white metropolis. The snow began to fall a few hours prior to midnight last night and it’s obvious that it ain’t going nowhere fairly fast. And, of course, it’s only now, with the capital shrouded in the white stuff (as most of the country has been for the past two weeks), that the prevailing weather has officially been elevated to a National Crisis – even the bleedin’ buses aren’t running for gawdsakes – and will remain one until the thaw sets in hereabouts.

I guess that the opening match in the FBD on Sunday week must now be in doubt. It’s hard to see much football being played for the next few weeks, to be honest, and I suppose if we’ve waited this long for the inter-county action to return, another few weeks won’t make much difference.
