Brogan and Brennan back for Dublin

Dublin have named their team for Sunday (with thanks to Luigi for the heads-up on this) and it shows two changes from the one that started against Laois in the quarter-final a few weeks back. Alan Brogan returns to the team at corner-forward in place of Eoghan O’Gara with Michael Darragh Macauley shifting out to centre-forward and Diarmuid Connolly moving to full-forward. At the back, Ger Brennan is restored to the starting fifteen at centre-back with Cian O’Sullivan switching to corner-back to the exclusion of Philly McMahon.

Here’s the team in full: Dublin (All-Ireland SFC semi-final v Mayo, 2/9/2012): Stephen Cluxton (Parnells); Michael Fitzsimons (Cuala), Rory O’Carroll (Kilmacud Crokes), Cian O’Sullivan (Kilmacud Crokes); James McCarthy (Ballymun Kickhams), Ger Brennan (St Vincent’s), Kevin Nolan (Kilmacud Crokes); Eamonn Fennell (St Vincent’s), Denis Bastick (Templeogue Synge Street); Paul Flynn (Fingallians), Michael Darragh Macauley (Ballyboden St Enda’s), Bryan Cullen (Skerries Harps, captain); Alan Brogan (St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh)Diarmuid Connolly (St Vincent’s), Bernard Brogan (St Oliver Plunkett’s/ Eoghan Ruadh).

  1. Whoever starts at centre forward, Brogan or Macauley, Donie vaughan is facing a big challenge. Hopefully he can find the form he had in the semi final last year, a performance like that would set the platform for a Mayo win.

Personally I would love if Dublin line out as named, Brogan is far more dangerous out the field running at the defence and feeding Bernard insdide.

It’s going to be some occasion, full house in September. These are the days.

  2. Programme printers will have to go with 15 AN others for Mayo if they don’t announce it soon.

  3. Looks like they may have to, Sean! I’m heading off out now so probably won’t have a chance to post team details till I get back later this afternoon (though this depends on mobile coverage where I’m headed). If anyone spots the team announcement in the meantime, you might stick the details up here.
