It was one win and one loss from the two matches involving Mayo teams today.

The defeat came in the Camogie League Division 4 final, in which we lost out to Tyrone by 0-18 to 2-9. It was a close-fought match, which was level at half-time, but the O’Neill County enjoyed a stronger second half and emerged winners by three points.

The U17 hurlers, meanwhile, won their opening Round match in the Celtic Challenge competition. They beat Kildare by 1-19 to 1-13 in today’s match played at the Kildare Centre of Excellence in Hawkfield. Post-match reaction to the win from Mayo selector Billy McGee is here.

Turning to the football, over in Ruislip today Sligo got this year’s Connacht SFC underway when they powered past London by 2-20 to 0-12. The Yeats County now face either Leitrim or New York in the provincial semi-final – that match over in Gaelic Park throws in at 11pm our time tonight.
