As a Mayo GAA fan I was happy Galway got to the All-Ireland final

Ah – the things you do for love.  Myself and my Tuam-ian fiancée met just one month out from the All-Ireland final in 2016. To be exact, it was the night before Mayo’s All-Ireland semi-final clash with Tipperary. On the weekend of the final she came to Dublin and met my sister for the very first time and, while she […]

Saturday match reports

We’re still only in pre-season (just about, with our opening League match this day week) but we claimed our first FBD title in eleven years last night in the Dome so it’s worth having a quick look at the media coverage about that. Here it is: Match reports: GAA, RTÉ, Western People, Midwest Radio (includes post-match audio), Roscommon People, Irish […]

Team to play Roscommon named

I was driving across the country this evening when the team to play Roscommon in tomorrow evening’s FBD final at the Dome (throw-in 7.30pm) was named. As was the case for last weekend’s semi-finals, no concession tickets will be available for this game. Connacht GAA Secretary John Prenty, speaking with Michael Gallagher in the Mayo News […]

It’s almost beyond our collective memory – well, not quite, but it has been a while – since we last played in an FBD League final but this Friday evening at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence Air Dome we take on Roscommon in this year’s provincial pre-season decider. Throw-in at the Dome is 7.30pm on Friday. Tickets – a […]

Sunday match reports

It might only be the middle of January but yesterday we had a club from the county contesting an All-Ireland title while the Mayo footballers were beating Galway in the FBD, having earlier in the day reportedly also got the better of Westmeath with another county team in a separate pre-season joust. Time for the return of the match reports […]
