The final four

We know all about the heady mixture of excitement and nervousness that comes with being one of the final four in the Championship but this year, for the second season in a row and for only the third time since 2010, the All-Ireland SFC semi-finals don’t feature us. If we were involved, we would, of course, have been fully focused […]

In this episode of the Mayo Football Podcast, Rob and I provide a sample of the audio content released on the pod over the last week, almost all of which was made available first to our club members on Patreon. We start by listening to audio from Dan Bannon of the Louth and Proud podcast on the Final Whistle show […]

Sunday match reports

A good bit later than I’d planned, due to a variety of reasons, including the hurling, but I think yesterday’s matches merit a post on the coverage of them. Plus it’s an excuse to give an airing to that wonderful photo above of our newly-crowned All-Ireland champions. We have to start with yesterday’s LGFA U14 Platinum All-Ireland final in which […]

Minors’ run ended by Monaghan

The county’s Minors were well beaten by Monaghan today in the All-Ireland MFC quarter-final at Páirc Seán MacDiarmada in Carrick-on-Shannon. It was a match in which they never really got a proper foothold at any stage and the Farney lads ran out deserving 1-15 to 1-8 winners. Maybe the writing was on the wall today even before the two teams […]

LGFA and Minor fixtures confirmed

The GAA are still resolutely refusing to show their hand on when and where the Round 3 fixtures in the All-Ireland SFC group stage will be played but the dates for our two LGFA All-Ireland SFC group stage matches were confirmed yesterday and so too today were details of our Minor All-Ireland quarter-final against Monaghan. In the LGFA Championship we’re […]

LGFA and Minor opposition confirmed

Two provincial finals played in Ulster today confirmed Mayo’s next opponents in both the LGFA Senior football Championship and the Minor football Championship. The LGFA Ulster Championship was won today by Donegal, who beat Armagh in the final at Owenbeg by 1-10 to 0-9. The result was a bit of a surprise and it means that Armagh will be in […]
