It’s been a month since I did the last update in the prediction mini-league and so it’s as well to get this bulletin squared off and done before the madness of the build-up to the final takes hold in earnest.
With only the big one left to play, this means there’s only one match left to predict in this year’s competition. It looks, though, as if the destination of the mini-league title this year has already been decided before we square up to Dublin in a fortnight’s time.
The young lad has been setting the pace for some time and he picked his way carefully through the matches that had to be played since the last update. These included the tricky ones such as our quarter-final against Tyrone and the Dublin-Kerry semi-final.
Emerging from that lot, he now holds an all but unassailable 42-point lead in the table. Barring a draw in the final, he can’t in theory be caught at this stage and even if that happened he’d still be odds-on to prevail. So, the bubbly’s on ice – the non-alcoholic version, of course, as he’s still just a chiseller.
The moniker he uses, by the way, is our in-house nickname for one A O’Shea. After this feat of prediction prowess, however, I’d say he now reckons there’s more than one big kahuna in the Mayo GAA universe. So he should.
Here’s the leaderboard as it stands ahead of the final. Are you in it?
Can you predict the winning numbers in Monday’s GAA Players Welfare Lotto? If so you could be in line to win one of the six All-Ireland final tickets on offer then. Play the Lotto here.
Well done to the young lad. He must be a chip off the old block. I hope he won’t be supporting the enemy in 2 weeks.
A different championship preview of a kind; the Mayo Junior A championship semi finals this evening.

The club, where it all starts and finishes. Credit to all four clubs keeping the GAA flag flying.
No fear, Tommyk, he’ll be shouting for us. And he can shout too!
As willie the shoe God be good to him used to say “Pat Fallon the prince of midfielders” great to see he’s still involved with Balla
Any chance of the young lad joining the Mayo backroom team next year, Willie Joe? He must know a bit about football. Or is he busy building his own career? If the latter who will his allegiance be to?
That’s an extraordinary result Willie Joe.. not only only would the young fella have to get nearly all the calls right but the scores would have to be pretty damn close too.. hopefully his clairvoyant skills align with our future prospect’s and that we are all a nose ahead on the day that the fat lady sings.. oh the green and red of Mayo
Well done young fella! Had to have inside info!!! Offthepost will keep an eye on you down the line!!
Congratulations to the Big Dog and to you Willie Joe for running this wonderful site.
