I’m very late to the party on this one but it would be remiss not to highlight the title win achieved yesterday by Cill Chomáin at the Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta. The Erris club won the Junior final at the Comórtas yesterday, beating Gaoth Dobhair by 0-14 to 1-8.
The Naomh Mhuire club hosted this year’s tournament in the heart of the Donegal Gaeltacht, with separate football competitions taking place for men and women at Senior and Junior levels. The action got underway on Friday and it concluded on yesterday’s Bank Holiday Monday.
Cill Chomáin’s title victory, the first in their history, was all the more impressive in light of the fact that their main man, Justin Healy, didn’t feature in it at all due to injury. He had to leave the field early on in Sunday’s semi-final against Naomh Mhuire, a match the Mayo lads won by a point.
Match report from Michael Gallagher in the Mayo News on yesterday’s title win is here.
Cill Chomáin’s manager John Maloney and friend of the podcast Nigel Reape, who coached the team, spoke with Midwest Radio after the win. You can listen to that audio here.
Congrats to Cill Chomáin on their historic Comórtas title victory yesterday.
