Cillian and Tubber lads come out on top at Club Stars

Another belated post (this darn work just won’t let up), this time to mention (in case you haven’t seen it already) the Club Stars awards which took place last Friday night. At the bash held that night in the Knockranny, Ballintubber’s Cillian O’Connor crowned what has been a great year for him by adding the Mayo Club Player of the Year award to his national Young Player of the Year title. If you pitch his Connacht and Mayo SFC medals into the mix as well it’s certainly been a year to remember for the young Ballintubber man. And it only seems like yesterday that he made his senior county debut, though that performance back in January against GMIT in the FBD did provide a hint about what was about to come from him.

Friday night also proved a good enough one for Cillian’s Ballintubber teammates, with the club getting five representatives (plus three replacements) on the Club Stars Team of the Year. And, to top things off, Tony McGarry was named Club Manager of the Year. Full details on all the awards are available here.

  1. cillian deserved his award, but if I was from say, Ballina I’d be a little peeved to see Davitts get 3 awards coming from the Intermediate ranks
