Impressive performances from Castlebar, Breaffy & Tubber. All on course for the knockout stages. AOS showing well again, bodes well for Mayos tougher assignments to come. Charlestown and Tom Parsons finding form at the right time of the season. Great to get club championship game time in while we wait for 19th July. Are the final group games going ahead next weekend?
No reports of any injuries I hope? I don’t believe the county men played for Ballintubber, would I be right in saying that?
Not complaining but wondering why if that was the case, COC could do with more games but of course would be a disaster if he got injured
COC out with a knee injury and DOC out with a fractured hand.
Final round this weekend.
Thanks Liam. That will keep the lads ticking over nicely. Can’t beat games over monotonous training sessions.
Well if what Steve says is true it would put an entirely different complexion on the Sligo game
Yes Steve if those two boys are out, and after watching highlights of the Sligo Roscommon match last night, then I would be worried.
Don’t take it as gospel but that’s th info I got Friday evening. I was not at the match, maybe someone here can confirm if either player was even togged out? Dampened my joy at seeing Sligo win anyway. COC is plagued with injury and our hopes for a long summer hinge highly on Cillian being fit.
Can we have one summer without rumours for once? Don’t see what it achieves by starting whispers, we seem to relish it in Mayo for some reason.
If the management have something to say, they’ll release it officially.
I see Roscommon have been drawn away to Cavan in the qualifiers, this surely is about as tough as it gets. Could be a very short season for wearers of the the primrose and blue.
Just to echo what Alf said, there’s nothing to be gained from spreading rumours and for your info Steve there’s a house rule against propagating this kind of stuff so let that be the end of it. Nothing has been confirmed yet on any injuries (by the way, my small bit of digging on the issue didn’t throw up the same info as you’ve posted) and it’s best to leave it until something is.
I heard that Aidan scored a hat trick for Breaffy at the weekend?
I see Antrim have drawn Fermanagh. Why was that allowed? Did they not play each other a few weeks ago. Not that it makes any difference to us.
Mick ffs will you stop spreading rumours about how much Aido might or might NOT have scored 😛
Keep quiet about Aido’s doings and scoring rates, Mick. No point worrying the Tubbermen, or Castlebar men either.
Again the club players get shafted with last round to be played next weekend. No senior fixtures for July. How the hell are the clubs supposed to plan their year.
Jim Flag – as far as I know there are no restrictions in the draw for teams who have already met.
Even worse, was that Antrim were drawn out of the hat first and should have had home advantage. But because they had already lost to Fermanagh, they have to cede home advantage and travel to Enniskillen again.
Aye! The man scored three but rumoured in the WP that he got two little wans as well. Sssshhheeee!!!
As a neutral I saw the aforementioned Aido on Sunday as he helped himself to three gosls in the first half. If it takes two or three men to mark him at inter-county level then what hope has an average club team of containing him. The man is unmarkable.
Brian Reape continued his goal scoring feats at the weekend with two goals from play. Made slog for ball by u21 tactics versus Leitrim. Comes off bench versus Galway harshly pulled for nudge in back n has a good goal dissallowed. Down the other end our full back David Kenny pushed put of the way by Comer n the goal stood. Going back to club minor, county minor including league and championship Brian Reape has the highest goals and on target shots of any Mayo county representative level footballer. Check the match reports from spring county minor league versus Leitrim n others. U21s benched this guy as our awfully poor counter attack failed to get him the ball in space. Half backs n midfield would not release the ball early. Leitrim had numbers back to crowd out our full forwards.
Deel Rover, What do you expect the county board to do. In fairness to them the County Championship will be at the knockout stage when it is closed down for the county team. There will also be starred games which allows clubs league games to proceed without the county men. Very few of the top teams in the country would have their clubs games series as advanced as Mayo.
Okay Dan Says. That is a great way to conduct a draw alright. Makes perfect sense.
Oh hang on a minute. Ah jaysus.
