By the looks of the excellent collection of match photos on the Mayo Camogie Facebook page (here), the sun shone brightly in Tooreen this afternoon as the Mayo camogie team took on Kildare in Division 4 of the League. The performance put in by the Mayo team had its own bright lustre too as they stormed to a decisive 1-14 to 0-4 win over the Lilywhites.
I was following the football myself this afternoon, I’m afraid, so there’s little in the way of detail I can say about today’s game. By the sounds of it, though, it was a match that Jimmy Lyons’ team controlled from start to finish.
They bagged the game’s three opening points and by half-time that lead was extended to eight points to two. When the home team bagged the game’s only goal early in the second half, they were out of sight and they won by a very convincing 1-14 to 0-4 at the finish.
This is a real morale-boosting success for county’s camogie team, as they begin to find their feet at inter-county level. Their next League outing is against Louth this day week.
It’s fantastic to see the camogie team doing so well. They had a great game last week and it seems they upped the game today. That’s a big win. Very proud of them. Maigheo abú
Delighted to see that, well done all
Well done to the Mayo Camogie team
