Those helpful souls at Hogan Stand have just provided details of a number of relevant match dates in 2010, the salient bits of which are as follows. Our Connacht first round tie against Sligo at Markievicz Park has been set for Sunday, 6th June, with the winners down to play Galway (or New York) in the Connacht semi-final on Sunday, 27th June. Should we make it that far, the Connacht final has been scheduled for Sunday, 18th July.
Details of the Connacht U21 championship draw for next year are contained in that Hogan Stand article as well and they’re also, I see, now up on the Connacht GAA website. We’re down to play Leitrim under lights in Cloone (wherever the hell that it – wait: here it is) in the first round on Wednesday, 10th March with the winners playing Roscommon in the semi-final a week later (i.e. on Paddy’s Day). Galway face Sligo in the other semi-final on the same day. No date has been listed yet for the U21 Connacht final.
The Connacht GAA website also has details of the fixtures in next year’s minor football championship. Our lads start their third successive defence of this particular provincial crown with a quarter-final against Roscommon on Saturday, 26th June and the winners of that one will then face Leitrim in the semi-final a week later, on Saturday, 3rd July. The Connacht minor final will, of course, form the curtain raiser to the senior decider on Sunday, 18th July.
U21s is our best hope this year. I can only envisage an average year from the the seniors.
We’ll be spoiled for choice with matches in March if we win the first u21 game. 3 league games and possibly 2 u21 games between 7th and 20th with another league game on 28th. Lets hope that the cattle are out on grass by then or they’ll never get fed! Keep the Faith
The season ticket is on sale today, same price as last year.
