Death of Mayo legend Eamon Mongey

It was sad to hear the news that Eamon Mongey, one of the key members of Mayo’s All-Ireland senior football triumphs in 1950 and 1951, has died. He was one of the real leaders of that remarkable team and away from the football field his career encompassed a lifetime of public service, as well as decades as a popular sports columnist and the obtaining of a doctorate in law.
