Dublin review – Mayo News football podcast 2020 E4

Mayo are in experimental mode this spring but despite this they put up a battling display against an experienced Dublin team at MacHale Park on Saturday evening. Jordan Flynn’s red card early in the game ultimately made the task of beating the All-Ireland champions an all but impossible one, with Dublin’s greater guile enabling them to use the extra man to decisive effect as they ran out six-point winners.

It was a night for experimentation on the Mayo News football podcast too. Both Rob and I were unavailable for this one so Ger Flanagan of the Mayo News was tipped in at the deep end for his full debut as episode host.

Ger had solid back-up for the task, though, in the shape of Eir Sport commentary duo Mike Finnerty and Billy Joe Padden. Between the three of them we hear about how the game played out and get some on-the-spot analysis after the final whistle had sounded.

Rounding off this episode we get post-game reaction from both James Horan and Dublin manager Dessie Farrell, who reflect on a night of contrasting fortunes for their respective teams.
