The Connacht Council have now refixed the dates for the three rounds of the FBD League and, in doing so, they’ve simply (and sensibly) shifted all of the matches back by a week. While they’re at it, they’ve also confirmed venues for all of the matches.
Our opening game – against NUIG at Garrymore – is now down for decision on the 17th but latest forecasts I’ve seen would suggest that The New Ice Age won’t be done with until a few days after that so this one could fall foul of the weather again. Assuming it does go ahead, though, our second round game – against Sligo IT – is set to take place on the 24th at Charlestown, with the third round clash against the Rossies scheduled for Ballinlough on the 31st.
Should we unexpectedly have an unbeaten run in the FBD, then the so-called Home Final (a term which has a kind of 1950s retro sound to it) will take place on either the 20th or the 28th of February, both of which are free weekends from an NFL perspective. At this stage, though, that date only needs to be marked in with a very soft pencil: one that’s no harder than a 2B, I reckon.
