From what I hear the wind was fairly howling at the new Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence (aka Prenty Park) this evening where the 2012 FBD League got going with a double-header under the lights.
In the evening’s opening match, Alan Mulholland got his reign as Galway manager off to a successful start with his new charges seeing off IT Sligo by 1-7 to 0-7. Star man for the Tribesmen was Shane Maughan (son of former Mayo player Jimmy) who got the game’s decisive goal shortly after half-time.
Hogan Stand has a short report here and the photo above is courtesy of @GalwayFootball. In the second match of the evening, NUIG overcame Sligo by 1-6 to 0-4.
Lads, is the Mayo v Leitrim match on in Ballyhaunis town ground or the new centre of excellence?
