Galway NFL review – Mayo News football podcast 2020 E29

After a seven-month break the Mayo footballers were back in National League action today and they certainly hit the ground running against Galway in Tuam. James Horan placed his faith in a youthful first fifteen for this game and this selection was fully justified as Mayo stormed to a fifteen-point win over the neighbours.

In this episode of the Mayo News football podcast we take you behind the closed doors at Tuam Stadium to catch a flavour of the day’s action. Rob Murphy and Ger Flanagan of the Mayo News host this episode where they’re joined in-game by John Casey to watch Mayo record an emphatic win over the home team.

Post-match we hear the thoughts of Mayo manager James Horan and his Galway counterpart Padraic Joyce. Martin Carney also provides his assessment of Mayo’s performance while Billy Joe Padden gives us his view of the game from his vantage point at home on the couch.

  1. A great performance from Mayo so can’t let the day pass without thanking players and management for brightening up our day in these otherwise grim times. We looked well ahead of Galway in terms of fitness and the hard summer- like ground suited us. I know they stood off us a bit but I can’t remember the last time I saw a Mayo team make so few errors or poor decisions, this was a major factor in sucking the life out of Galway. Aidan O’Shea can become the most dangerous full forward in the country if we get the right ball into him and at last we seem to have found a couple of players who are capable of doing this. Tyrone will give us a stiffer test next week but I think we’ll shade this dogfight. Thanks WJ for all your hard work.

  2. Like Mayo today l really enjoyed the podcast and always do. For us Mayo people abroad it is a God send, like been at home talking about the match. Keep up you’re great work and Mayo of course! ??. ?
