It’s getting to that time of the pre-Christmas period when mild panic starts to set in for some people, as they rack their brains for inspiration about what an appropriate gift might be for a loved one.
If that loved one happens to be a person who can’t get enough of all things relating to Mayo GAA, then you could do a whole load worse than giving them a gift of membership of the Mayo Football Podcast.
Were you to do so, what exactly would you be giving them?
Well, so far this year we’ve made over 150 podcast shows available to our club members on Patreon, with a few more still to come before year-end too. As well as Mike, Rob and me, regular voices on the podcast this year have included Colm Boyle, Billy Joe Padden, Stephen Drake, Edwin McGreal, Ger Flanagan and Nigel Reape. Plus a host of others.
This year, notable other guests we’ve had on the podcast include Lee Keegan, Jason Doherty, Kevin McLoughlin, Kevin McStay, Seán Deane, Peadar Gardiner, Michael Moyles, Austin O’Malley, Kevin O’Neill, Seamus O’Shea, Ciaran Treacy, Conor Diskin, Jack Coyne, Jordan Flynn, Rob Hennelly and Fiona McHale.
In total, we’ve had over 120 different voices on the podcast this year, including a number of managers (county and club), current and past players, pundits, GAA journalists and more. The full list is a veritable who’s who of GAA and LGFA people, from all over the country.
Over the course of 2023 we’ve covered the winning FBD campaign, the triumphant National League campaign and the less successful Championship that followed it, we’ve covered the U20s and the Minors and we’ve also covered the LGFA Championship campaign. We’ve been all over the club Championships as well.
We’ve also done book reviews, we’ve had several special guests and we’ve discussed all manner of topics, from the split season to the county’s underage academy, to the impact of a close family bereavement and much, much more. We’ve even done a few live shows.
Next year on the podcast we’re planning on providing the same kind of unrivalled coverage of everything related, however loosely, to football in Mayo. We’ll continue to be the place where you’ll find the best analysis and the best discussion, all from the podcast that’s online with new content every week of the year.
We’re now offering annual membership of our podcast club on Patreon at a special festive rate of €52 (plus VAT), which equates to just €1 per week for the oodles of audio content we produce over the course of the year. If you’d like to sign up a loved one for the year or, indeed, if you’d like to sign yourself up for annual membership, you can do so here.
We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our podcast listeners a peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
