Hurlers lose narrowly to Meath in Ring opener

The hurlers’ Christy Ring Cup campaign ended in narrow defeat at Páirc Tailteann in Navan this afternoon. Hosts Meath had their noses in front for most of the game and they ended up the narrow victors on a 2-20 to 0-24 scoreline.

Jack Regan was the main man for the Royals, shooting 1-11 of their total. For us, it was Cormac Phillips, who bagged thirteen points, eleven of them from placed balls.

Match reports on today’s game are available from the Irish Examiner, Connaught Telegraph and Meath Chronicle.

Next up for the hurlers in the Ring Cup is a Round 2 match at home to Tyrone next weekend.

  1. What a brilliant Ulster championship match between Tyrone and Monaghan.
5 points down at half time Monaghan looked out of it but what a comeback in the second half…it will be hard to see a better game this year.

  2. A great effort by our hurling team. Onwards and upwards for next match.
