Hurling semi-finals on this weekend

After two rounds of Championship action the county’s club footballers have this weekend off. In their absence, centre-stage is set to be taken by the hurlers, with both SHC semi-finals being contested.

The big two have been kept apart in this weekend’s penultimate round fixtures. Ballyhaunis are up against Castlebar Mitchels, a repeat of last year’s semi-final in which Castlebar pulled off a memorable shock win. That game throws in at Ballyhaunis at 5pm tomorrow evening.

Out the road in Tooreen at 7pm tomorrow evening the defending champions take on Westport. Tooreen will be aiming to qualify for the final for the ninth successive year as they chase a four-in-a-row of TJ Tyrell Cup victories.

If you’re still hankering after some football action there are plenty of Minor Championship matches on this weekend, starting this evening. Check out Mayo GAA competitions page for details – here.
