No doubt you know all about the Laochra Mhaigh Eo fundraising initiative that’s in full swing at the minute – further details on it are here – the aim of which is to help raise funds for the pitch resurfacing works that are set to be carried out at MacHale Park this year.
In a tie-in with the initiative, Midwest Radio are hosting a two-hour Laochra Mhaigh Eo programme next Sunday afternoon, from 2pm to 4pm. Special guests on the show will include ex-Mayo GAA players Andy Moran, Donie Vaughan and Mickey Conroy, as well as current Mayo LGFA players Grace and Niamh Kelly who have both been plying their trade this year in the AFLW in Australia.
As well as other special guests, the programme will also feature Mayo supporters from over the world. With plenty of chat about football past and present it sounds like a show not to be missed.

I will be looking forward to hearing the guests on the programme on Sunday
I’m told that Leitrim have a similar wall at their CoE centre near Carrick. I’m told it took a large amount of promotional work to get it going but when it took off it did very well and finished their centre to a very high standard. Hopefully the same will apply at MacHale Park. I, at least, have my tile booked as of last night.
I’m in too, I would have spent the price of a tile last year if we had football
I think the tile initiative is a great idea and thankfully was in a position to sign up for it last year. 1000 subscriptions would pay for the resurfacing of the pitch and leave what litle revenue is coming in to be spent elewhere.
This was a great show, well done to all involved. Most entertaining couple of hours since the AI final last year. Great to hear Andy, Donnie, and Micky, having fun and reminiscing about great times passed
