The Laochra Mhaigh Eo fundraising initiative, which helped to raise funds required to undertake the pitch redevelopment works at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, reaches its conclusion next weekend.
The pitch redevelopment is now complete and the first inter-county game to be played at MacHale Park on the new surface is the big Connacht Championship match between Mayo and Galway on Sunday week. Ahead of that, on the evening of Saturday 23rd, the official launch of the Laochra Mhaigh Eo Heroes Wall will take place at MacHale Park.
All those who purchased a tile for the wall have been invited to the official launch – which takes place at MacHale Park at 6pm on the 23rd – where they’ll get to see the Heroes Wall, and the tile each of them purchased, for themselves.
Sadly, I won’t be able to make it there myself – I’ll be heading west for the game the following morning – but those invited to go to the launch are being asked to RSVP no later than Thursday, 21st April at 9am. The RSVP link is in the invite mail sent to tile holders.

They’re probably blue tiles
Yeah WJ I got the invite and intend to go, all being well. Don’t know how long they will be there for, but hopefully it will be a long time. Nice to think that the grandkids might stand there in years to come and see it.
Nice gesture,I’m hoping to be there, looking forward to seeing our tile and more so having a look at the pitch.
Bought a tile in honor of my maternal great grandfather who left Mayo for the States in 1880. Thrilled to be coming over for the game and to be there for the unveiling. Want a pic with my wife and daughter to share with my brother.
I got the invite, not sure if I will be able to attend. I hope we are able to view the tiles on the Sunday before the game.
