Lee Keegan retires – Mayo Football Podcast 2023 E1

Lee Keegan’s retirement announcement earlier this week brings down the curtain on a glittering inter-county career. Since he made his Mayo debut in 2011, the Westport man won five All-Stars and was named Footballer of the Year in 2016. He won seven Connacht SFC medals and a National League medal as a Mayo player, earning plaudits far and wide for his stylish performances, his peerless man-marking skills and his never-say-die attitude.

In this special episode of the Mayo Football Podcast, we pay tribute to a player whom many have described this week as Mayo’s best ever performer in the modern era. Host Rob Murphy is joined by Colm Boyle, Billy Joe Padden and Edwin McGreal to reflect on Lee’s retirement announcement. They chat about the career Lee had as a Mayo player and the legacy he leaves for football in Mayo as well throughout the country.
