LGFA League campaign gets underway on Sunday

January is the month in which competitive inter-county action gets underway each year and this weekend sees the start of the 2024 LGFA National Football League.

We’re once again in Division One of the LGFA’s NFL and our League campaign opens this coming weekend with a home match against Meath. This game takes place on Sunday at James Stephens Park in Ballina, which I understand will be the home venue of choice for our Senior women’s football team this year.

Throw-in on Sunday is at 2pm. If you’re planning on going to the game – which I’m aiming to do myself – the link for purchasing tickets for it is here.

This match is the county’s first under new manager Liam McHale. With five players from last year unavailable in 2024 for a variety of reasons, there are set to be a number of new faces featuring at county level for the first time this year.

A new podcast episode has just gone up on Patreon, in which Mike chats with Liam McHale. This pod also features Mayo players Sinéad Cafferky and Sinéad Walsh.

The best of luck to Liam and the Mayo team as they embark on a new season of inter-county action.
