Earlier on today we named our team to face defending champions Dublin in the LGFA All-Ireland SFC semi-final at Croke Park on Saturday. The game throws in at 3.45pm that afternoon and here’s the team we’re going with for it:
Mayo (LGFA All-Ireland SFC semi-final v Dublin 14/8/2021): Laura Brennan (Hollymount); Saoirse Lally (Westport), Dayna Finn (Kiltimagh), Clodagh McManamon (Burrishoole, captain); Tamara O’Connor (Cill Chomain), Ciara Whyte (Kilmoremoy), Kathryn Sullivan (Castlebar Mitchels); Fiona McHale (Carnacon), Sinead Cafferkey (Kilmovee Shamrocks); Niamh Kelly (Moy Davitts), Rachel Kearns (MacHale Rovers), Lisa Cafferkey (Kilmovee Shamrocks); Grace Kelly (Moy Davitts), Shauna Howley (Knockmore), Sarah Rowe (Kilmoremoy).
The team we’ve named for Saturday shows just one change from the one that overcame Galway at the quarter-final stage the weekend before last. Back into the team comes fit-again captain Clodagh McManamon who replaces RoisÃn Durcan at corner-back.
The best of luck to the team on Saturday. I’m looking forward to being there at GAA HQ myself to roar them on in this one.
Good luck to Dayna Finn and all the Mayo ladies football team . Put it up to the Dubs go at them at full throttle for the whole game .Ye can do it
Best of luck to one and all. The Dublin ladies are just as dominant as their male counterparts, but hopefully Mayo will be more than a match for them. A very exciting looking forward line.
Good luck to Mayo Ladies – and men. Won’t be there unfortunately as ticket search did not come up trumps. But will be glued to the box for both games.
Bookies not given our ladies a prayer the next day. Dublin are 1/7. Are they that good ?, I havnt being paying much attention if I’m honest.
Best of luck to both Mayo teams on Saturday.
Does anyone know if the TF or Welcome Inn are showing the game on big screens?
I’m with you AndyD…it’ll be the telly for me too. I know nobody gives us a hope in this game but I simply have a feeling that we have the talent in our team to turn the Dubs over and show them that the women and men in Mayo have what it takes to make life difficult. Never say die and give it your best. I’ll be praying in front of the box…Mayo for God’s sake!!
Maigheo go deo.
Best of luck ladies. Nothing to fear, no pressure just give it everything. That is a really fine team and with outstanding progress since April, why wouldn’t you go one step more.
Pace is a pre-requisite when taking on the Dublin ladies otherwise they create so many overlaps and drain oppositions’ energy. Hope I’m wrong but imo we are vulnerable in that aspect so Mayo need to play smart and keep the ball, similar to what the Dublin men’s team has perfected.
Time for this generation of Mayo ladies to make the breakthrough.
Good luck
Best of luck to the ladies on Saturday. They’re probably up against it given the Dubs dominance, but no doubt they’ll give their all and will improve for the experience.
Are the Carnacon players still boycotting the set-up?
Hope the game is differently reffed than Donegal v Dublin in the quarter final, where Dublin benifited greatly from the ref turning a blind eye to a succession of Dublin fouls.. Go’wan the Mayo Girls!
