Two reports on yesterday’s match against Sligo IT to report on: this one from the Indo and this far better one from the redoubtable No one Shouted Stop! You can almost hear the wind howling around your ears and feel the rain trickling down the back of your neck when reading the latter – it sounded like it was a fun afternoon alright.
It was good to see that Barry Regan got off the mark so well yesterday in his first outing in the colours since 2006 and good too to see Robert Hennelly getting his first competitive start between the sticks at senior level. There’s no point, I guess, trying to read anything of significance into who played yesterday (although I see that Johnno stuck with the same half-back line yesterday as that which lined out against NUIG) or what the result was. Next weekend’s clash with the Rossies will be of more interest, as it’ll be the first proper inter-county match of the year for us and of course we always like to give it in the posterior to the Sheepstealers, even if it is only the FBD.
One point of correction on yesterday’s game: the guy on Mad West said that we lost two players to yellow cards but the Indo report only mentions Aidan Kilcoyne getting an early bath in this way.
Finally, on an unrelated point, I should let you know that TJ the technical wizard has now set up the possibility of subscribing to the outpourings of this site via email. For those of you interested in doing so, you’ll find all relevant details a bit of the way down on the panel on the right-hand side.
The Mayo News match report from Sunday, featuring a photo of a particularly glum-looking Tom Parsons in the Sligo IT colours, is now online as well.
