Mayo Football Podcast episode: Final Whistle – Mayo ladies draw with Kerry, now available on all podcast platforms

On Saturday afternoon, Mayo claimed a dramatic draw in their LGFA NFL Division One Round 4 clash with Kerry at Fitzgerald Stadium. We recorded a Final Whistle podcast episode in Killarney and this was made available to our club members on Patreon shortly afterwards.

Rob chatted on this podcast episode with Cormac Reape, former Knockmore LGFA manager and current manager of the Sligo ladies team. He also got post-game reaction from Mayo manager Liam McHale and from long-serving player Fiona McHale.

What the latter had to say was particularly noteworthy, as she expressed her frustration about the way in which LGFA matches aren’t getting the kind of prime billing they could.

Fiona pointed in particular to the fact that although Mayo’s recent LGFA fixtures against Galway, Dublin and Kerry were all scheduled for the same weekend as the men’s matches against the same opposition, none of these were arranged as high profile double-headers. In the same week that it was announced the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association are targeting 2027 for full amalgamation of the three associations, Fiona’s observations on match scheduling have added resonance.

This podcast episode is now available for free on all podcast platforms, including iTunes, Spotify, SoundCloud and Podomatic. It’s also up now on our YouTube channel and you can listen to it there using the player below.
