Mayo Football Podcast episode: New York Diary Day Three

The day before the match saw our intrepid team travel to two different locations in search of stories.

First up was a trip to McLean Avenue in the Bronx for the rescheduled St Patrick’s Day parade where Rob chatted to Jimmy Gleeson, a well-known character in New York GAA circles. One of Jimmy’s claims to fame is that he was part of a New York minor team that played against Mayo in 1978.

That was followed by an evening in Banc Cafe where the lads caught up with owner Ronan Conlon, a native of Bonniconlon.  Ronan chatted about following Mayo from afar, how he thinks they are shaping up and his connection to his home club.

Colm Boyle also joined the lads for the first time this weekend and helped to preview Sunday’s match.
