Mayo News football podcast: Donegal out-battled

It’s Mayo News football podcast time again and this one is a bumper end-of-League campaign one.

Starting off, host Rob Murphy and I go through the action as it unfolded at MacHale Park yesterday where we were joined in the packed stand by ex-Mayo player and RTÉ pundit John Casey. After the final whistle sounded, Rob gets Seán Rice’s thoughts on the day’s action and then, once we’d had time to recover, John and I also have a chat about the game.

After that, Rob, Ger Flanagan, Edwin McGreal and I spread ourselves out in the posh seats high up in the now-empty stand at MacHale Park to chew the fat on the game and, widening the debate out, on Mayo’s 2017 League campaign. Rob also has a special piece on Ballinrobe Community School’s All-Ireland victory on Saturday.

The podcast is now available on SoundCloud and iTunes and is also available to listen to here:

  1. Grate pod cast willie joe donegal are as bad as tyrone a dirty team hope monaghan win ulster because donegal hard to watch every one back Park the bus aidan o’shea maid murphy look so bad

  2. So …… after the dust settles it`s two from Leinster, three ulster , two Connaught and one Munster.

Don`t know what we can talk about now. I suspect our blog may go into limp mode now for a while.

Withdrawal symptoms maybe. The old Romans had panem et circences. Bit of cricket anyone?

  3. One thing bugging me since 2 pm Sunday is why, having played almost all games at 3 pm the Sunday previous, when the clocks went forward, the GAA reverted to 2 pm yesterday. Were it not for my habit of getting to a venue at least an hour ahead of throw in I would have missed almost the entire game. As it was I was going through the turnstiles as Cillian was taking that penalty. I saw no publicity for that change of time and admit I just assumed that the game would be at 3 pm like the Tyrone game. Anybody else in the same boat?

  4. Great podcast, enjoyed it immensely.
Has anyone seen a post from Cait in the last while? Seems to have gone to ground and was a big fan.
