Team gives us all punters 2 days to discuss it’s merits … ???
I do be so surprised reading this forum last week and a bit as I’m only after starting following it since we were drawing against each other, but amount of people leaving Andy Moran off their teams. IMO he is your best forward and has been for many years. He is your biggest threat from play. Please god he is left on the sideline for our sake Monday. COC has played us three times in championship and scored 17 points, 16 frees. I don’t worry about him at all Andy is Mayos danger man and only for him in 2014 we would have beaten Ye. If he was useless there would have been no boos last weekend
Hi guys,
Taken my time to write this week as I was trying to get my head around some stuff. Like!
1. Why take off Colm Boyle the last day when he was by far the best player.
2. Why take off Andy Moran when he was by far the best forward on the day.
3. Why sub two forwards and replace them with two backs? This one beggars belief!!!!
Mr. Manager, if you are going to manage the team, manage it! Your tactics so far this campaign has led to this replay which is something we did not need at this stage. Don’t be so nieve to think that because we are 7 points up with 10 mins to go that you can take players off just because you think we have the game won. You sub players regardless of if they are playing well or not. The last day out you took off Boyler and Andy to the amazement of everyone except yourself it would seem. COP on now! When players are playing well, leave them on the pitch, when they’re not, take them off. Simple. Forget the fitness training for a bit as the lads are so fit they could run a marathon. Concentrate on the football skills, get the forwards and half forwards to stay closer to their positions for a quicker counter attack. Run at defences. When the ball is turned over by our backs make sure there’s someone on the relevant side of the pitch at midfield and half forward in order to be able to play the ball out quickly without having to play across the goal mouth!
In other words, GO BACK TO BASICS!
Oh, and the likes of Fergal Boland is the furture, but if you don’t start playing him now he won’t stick around long enough to have a future with Mayo. Again, COP ON and open your eyes to see what everyone else can see!
Athlone rossie, you’re not worried about a player who has scored 17 points against ye in 3 games!!! We should be alright tomorrow so!
Andy is far from useless, he is a superb player, but rather than take him off afer 50 mins in each game, would be better have him on after 40 mins. Just think we sometimes lack some experience in later ends of games as of late.
Important we start bring through some younger lads… The dubs did it against us last year.
Andy is playing well when starting and scoring freely, when loftus has come on he has scored and set up scores. This is a dynamic that is working. I would not go changing it for the sake of it.
Niall Mc1983 no not personally I’m not. COC is an excellent free taker but has not done it against us from in the three championship games only 1 point from play in them. Not going to get in an argument and say he is a bad player because that would be a lie the point I am making is me and most other Roscommon supporter would be more afraid of Andy than Cillian we could be wrong but on past performances against us Andy is a better player and still is
Andy is playing well but think he would be better coming off the with 20 or 25 minutes left when backs tired that last thing they want to see someone of his experience coming he should be the Bernard brogan of mayo
