Senior football league action within the county is coming to a close for the year, with Divisions 1 and 2 wrapping up last weekend while Divisions 3 and 4 still have a few matches to be played.
In the top Division of the SFL it was Castlebar Mitchels who came out on top, their 1-19 to 2-10 win over Crossmolina on Saturday evening last sealing top spot for them. The photo above shows the team following the presentation to them of the David Gavin Memorial Cup.
At the other end of the table Charlestown and Crossmolina were relegated. Details of the final standings in Division 1 are here.
In Division 2 it was Westport who finished the year in top spot, with Ballaghaderreen also promoted. Davitts and Shrule/Glencorrib were relegated. The Division 2 final table is here.
Division 3 hasn’t finished up yet. Burrishoole and Louisburgh have, though, done enough at this stage to be guaranteed promotion, while it’s too late for Ballycastle and Ardagh to avoid the drop. The current Division 3 table is here.
Division 4 is still going as well. Swinford have top spot in the bag, with Castlebar and Knockmore battling it out for runners-up place. Like their first teams in Division 1, it’s the B outfits of Charlestown and Crossmolina who are consigned to relegation. The current Division 4 table is here.
Very good interview in Western People this week with Kilfian Club Officers. They are a small parish playing junior football and must pay 12000 every year to the county board on top of having to pay all expenses associated with running a club.
