New Year’s Eve special – Mayo News football podcast 2021 E46

As we count down the final hours of 2021, there’s still time for one last Mayo News football podcast episode of the year.

For this New Year’s Eve special episode Mike Finnerty is joined by Ed McGreal and Stephen Drake to take one last look back at 2021 through the prism of Mayo’s season. It’s good old-fashioned ‘football talk’ from start to finish as the lads shoot the breeze about the rollercoaster ride that was last season.

The conversation is dominated (unsurprisingly) by the All-Ireland final and how the defeat to Tyrone colours everything else that came before it. Mike, Ed and Stephen look back on the latest one that got away and try to tease out how, where and why it all went wrong for Mayo on the day.

Plus, they pick out their own personal highlights from Mayo’s year, hand out their awards for Mayo’s MVP and Most Improved Players, and name some prospects to keep an eye out for in 2022.

This episode of the Mayo News football podcast is now online and is available to listen to on iTunes, SoundCloud, Podomatic and Spotify. You can also listen to it directly on the Mayo News website as well as here on the blog using the SoundCloud player below or the one on the panel on the right.

  1. I didn’t realise that there was still a chance that Oisin might be playing for us again next year, I thought he was in Australia by now. Fingers crossed (and toes)

  2. Me either, and judging by the lack of comments, people are still to catch up on this one? I only listened to it today and it appears this potential intrigue has passed people by? Any update @williejoe?

  3. Thanks @williejoe, I assume you’ll have an Oisín update as part of the report? #batedbreadth
