In Grand National parlance (if it’s still PC to mention the National at all) we’re now approaching the elbow in this year’s NFL results prediction mini-league. As the finishing line comes clearly into view it looks as if we’re left with a straight head-to-head between Garrymore’s Enda McGearty and Shane Prendergast from Claremorris. Enda retains top spot from last week but Shane now only trails by a measly nine points and with the results of the four Divisional finals (including our own Division One decider against Cork) left to be pondered over, it’s still all to play for between the pair of them.

Indeed, Kiltimagh’s Devel – who has been up with the leaders right throughout – might yet swipe the spoils from under the noses of the top two but he’d be doing well, I reckon, to catch both of them on the hop in this truncated final round, which will of course be played out on the weekend after next. The rest of us would appear to be fighting it out for the minor placings at this stage.
