With the second round of NFL matches now behind us, it’s time to reveal what the story is on the weekend’s predictions.
First up the Setanta competition where the weekly winner is Patrick Rochford whose guess about how the Dubs would get on against Cork was better than anyone else’s. Patrick wins a copy of Breandán Ó hEithir’s Over The Bar and his name also goes into the hat for the overall prize of a year’s subscription via satellite to Setanta Sports. The draw for that will take place after the last round of league matches in early April.
Onto the mini-league, where there’s been a fair bit of change since last week. We have a new table-topper and I see that I’ve advanced a bit as well. It was only those unexpected wins by Derry and Donegal that tripped me up (yes, I did go for Kerry: I found it hard to imagine Jack O’Connor bringing his troops to HQ next Saturday night facing the prospect of three defeats from three matches). Both Yew Tree and Brianman83 have made serious progress to claim fifth and sixth respectively, while former winner SixPointsUp has made it onto the leaderboard for the first time.
Soon it will be a year since TIALTNGO has posted on his blog. Ever time I look at his site I see “Escape from Cloone. It was an omen of what lay ahead of us. U21s beaten in next match, seniors eaten in league final and then a trip to Sligo and Longford to confirm our status. Perhaps TIALTNGO might return and light a new path for us?
