Now that 2012 is underway and the Christmas tree is coming close to its date with the local recycling centre, we can at last start to think about seeing some football again. This coming Sunday our 2012 inter-county football year gets underway when we face Leitrim in the FBD League at Ballyhaunis (throw-in 2pm) but before then – on Saturday night, to be exact – the official launch of the County Board’s Cáirde Mhaigheo initiative is set to take place.
As mentioned previously here, Cáirde Mhaigheo has been devised as the single umbrella entity for all fundraising activities by Mayo GAA. Full details on the aims and main features of the initiative will be provided at Saturday night’s launch, which is expected to be attended by a number of current and former players as well as James Horan and some of his management predecessors and club officers from all over the county.
The County Board has issued an open invite to the launch (details here) which is due to take place in the Sportlann in Castlebar this coming Saturday (throw-in 7pm).
did anyone attend this/any feedback from this night? Wondering what it means for the newly formed London supporters club.
Re the Cairde Mhaigheo launch on Saturday night, from what I heard it was well attended and the take-up so far is going well. As far as I know, the London initiative – as well as the others, such as the original supporters club and Club Mayo Dublin – will come under the Cairde Mhaigheo banner.
Thanks W.J. Hopefully will hear more now following the launch.
As a matter of interest, what are the remaining works at McHale Park that need to be completed, this 1.5m thing?
