Our week on Patreon – a podcast a day

It’s been another podcast-filled week for our club members on Patreon and, for those of you who haven’t taken the plunge yet, it’s worth letting you know what we’ve been up to over the last few days. In short, it’s been a case of a podcast a day.

Starting on match day at Markievicz Park last Sunday, we had a lively chat going on Discord in and around the game. Later on that evening our ‘Final Whistle’ podcast episode went online. This featured Mike, Rob and me and we recorded it before we left the ground after the game.

On Monday we released our match review episode. Mike, Rob and I were all involved in this too, with Rob and I going the in-game bit, while we all then reflected on the result afterwards. Rob also chatted with Paddy McGill from the Donegal GAA Podcast and we heard post-match quotes from James Horan.

On Tuesday we had a bonus episode in which Mike chatted with Stephen Rochford. This was a really interesting discussion, covering Sunday’s game, Rochy’s involvement with Donegal and his thoughts on coaching in the modern game.

On Wednesday we gave club members early access to our Monaghan preview episode, where Rob was joined by Ed McGreal and Stephen Drake, This episode – with additional AOB chat at the end for club members – also included a feature on Kilmeena’s All-Ireland JFC final on Sunday. It was made available to all on the usual podcast platforms on Thursday morning.

On Thursday, Mike was back with another bonus episode, this time to chat with former Hollymount and Mayo player, Sinead Stagg, who’s currently managing the Mayo LGFA U14 team. Sinead chatted with Mike about Castlebar Mitchels’ LGFA All-Ireland Intermediate final on Sunday, as well as about wider Mayo LGFA issues.

Yesterday, it was time once again for our ‘Here Comes the Weekend’ episode where, once again, Mike had input from expert analysis from the opposition camp, in the the person of ex-Monaghan player Paul Finlay. Billy Joe Padden was also on the show, providing a detailed take on Mayo’s team selection for Clones as well as his reflections on Tommy Conroy’s cruciate injury.

We’ve taken the day off today but tomorrow the fun starts all over again.

During the game tomorrow, the match day Discord chat will be going again and this time it’ll be a dual-game one, as Rob and Stephen Drake will be at Croke Park for the Kilmeena game while Mike and I will be in Clones. We’ll also be keeping tabs on the Mitchels’ match from Ballinasloe as well as the hurlers’ NHL opener from Ballina.

After the match is over at St Tiernach’s Park, we’ll be recording the ‘Final Whistle’ pod which will go online later on tomorrow evening and further episodes will follow during the week.

One of these will be a Q&A episode, with club members given the opportunity to ask questions on issues close to their hearts which we’ll then endeavour to answer. We’ll be providing club members with more information on this one over the coming days.

If you fancy getting access to great content like this, joining the club on Patreon costs around the same as the price of a single pint each month. You can join the club here.

  1. Some work rate going in to all these pods! As a signed up member, I can confirm it’s excellent value so far.
