Making his first appearance in the guest slot, Sinabhuil pays this tribute to the recently deceased Paddy McTigue.
I just heard of the death of Paddy McTigue from Cross. Paddy was a staunch Neale and Mayo GAA supporter. He was helping run underage teams up to a few years ago and held numerous positions in the club including Club President. He never missed a match and he was always first there, sometimes before the gate was even open. He never missed a club meeting and was always constantly looking to better the club on and off the pitch.
The work he did for the club was enormous. Even this week he sent his son to the local shop to make sure he bought a club lotto ticket. A few weeks ago he attended the South Minor A Final in a wheel chair. The players (including his son Jason) in a spontaneous gesture brought the cup over to him at the pitch side. Aidan O’Shea also visited Paddy before the All Ireland Final.
Paddy also played football and was involved off the pitch with Glencorrib (now amalgamated with Shrule). His death is an enormous blow to his family and to the wider community especially the South Mayo GAA Community. His huge wish was to see Mayo win Sam. They came close but unfortunately that wish will have to be fulfilled by his family who are every bit as mad Mayo supporters as Paddy was. May he rest in peace.
Details of Paddy McTigue’s funeral arrangements are here.

Livenhope there is a lovely tribute to your dad by Willie McHugh on today’s Mayo News
The Neale needed a change in fortune to finally land a county junior title, this evening in McHale Park they finally got over the line after a breathtaking game that went to extra time. Its just such a pity for the late Paddy McTigue and others like him that never got to see this day, they would have been so proud of a team that refused to die , even when it looked all over for them in ordinary time. enjoy the party ye deserve it
