Podcast plans for the next while

The National League campaign gets underway this coming weekend and, as the rhythm of a new inter-county season takes hold, on the Mayo Football Podcast we’re once more gearing up for all of the action to come.

As was the case in 2022, our podcast club members on Patreon can expect oodles of audio content from us over the coming months. For the League campaign we’ll be previewing games and reviewing games as we chart Mayo’s progress in Division One this spring.

Typically, club members can expect to see two episodes leading into an upcoming League match, followed by two more after it.

We’ll have a midweek match preview pod, to which club members will get early access, with exclusive bonus Clubhouse chat, before it’s made available on all platforms, minus the bonus chat, typically 12/24 hours later. Last year, by the way, we released just under fifty free pods, a higher number than any other Mayo GAA podcast.

Closer to the forthcoming game, we’ll have a Here Comes the Weekend show, exclusively available to club members, in which Mike will discuss the upcoming match with a guest from the opposing county. Last year, this featured several great voices, all of them GAA household names, including Éamon McGee from Donegal, Monaghan’s Paul Finlay, Dublin’s Coman Goggins, Joe Kernan from Armagh, Marc Ó Sé from Kerry and Tyrone’s Peter Canavan.

Club members will also get access to our in-the-moment Final Whistle pod, which will be recorded at the match venue right after the game ends and which we’ll be aiming to make available online as soon as possible after that. This will be followed the day after the game by our Match Review pod, also solely for club members, where we’ll look back in detail on the previous day’s contest.

Aside from the League, we’ll have other pods as we go along this spring, focusing on the women footballers, the U20s and the U17s, as well as Q&A shows and a sprinkling of special episodes. Then we’ll be all over the Championship in the summer and, after that, will be focusing on the club action.

Last year, we released close to 150 episodes, 99 of which were bonus episodes exclusively for our club members. We’re aiming to be in the same territory in terms of content quantity this year.

Club members also have access to our Discord chats, which is a great way to interact with the podcast team and with other club members on and around match-days.

We recently introduced an annual membership option, which is available at a 10% discount off the standard monthly rate of €5 plus VAT and so costs a single yearly payment of just €54 plus VAT. One of the perks of annual membership is the free beanie hat shown below, stocks of which are currently on order and about which we’ll be contacting our annual members shortly.

The annual club membership offer is still available, by the way, at the same 10% discount and the link for that is here.

Like all Mayo fans, we’re looking forward hugely to the start of a new year of inter-county action, where once again we’ll be providing the soundtrack to Mayo’s inter-county year on the podcast. We hope that many of you will be with us on the journey too.

Have you listened yet to our Mayo Football Podcast episode with Lee Keegan? If not, it’s available here.

  1. Looking forward to all the podcasts in the coming year. I would recommend joining Patreon to get access to all the podcasts. It is well worth it and about the same as having a pint a month in Dublin!
