Time for a quick round-up of the results of matches played this weekend involving team from the county.

The best place to start is this afternoon’s All-Ireland Post Primary Schools A semi-final, in which Sacred Heart School, Westport, came out on top against Maynooth Education Campus on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-8.

The win sends the Westport school into the All-Ireland final for the second successive year. They lost out in last year’s decider and will be aiming to go one better this time round, when they play Our Lady’s Castleblaney of Monaghan, in the final. The county’s hurlers also enjoyed a productive afternoon today. They kept up their perfect run in this year’s NHL Division 3A when they decisively saw off Louth today at Bekan, winning by 0-28 to 0-13. It was the team’s fourth successive win in this campaign.

In camogie meanwhile, we lost yesterday to Wicklow by 3-5 to 0-3 in Division 4 of the Camogie League. This afternoon the county’s Minor camogie team drew 3-12 apiece with Tyrone in Round 2 of the All-Ireland Minor C Championship.

  1. As always WJ, thanks for your comprehensive coverage of all things Mayo gaa. That’s a brilliant result for the Westport girls especially as great strides are being made in secondary schools football in Kildare, we’ll all be cheering the Sacred Heart girls in the final. Well done to the hurlers too, great to see them stringing a few wins together after being relegated last year. Senior camogie has only recently been revived so keep the heads up girls, you’ve achieved so much in putting Mayo back on the camogie map, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before you can start winning again.
