Roscommon unchanged for Saturday

Roscommon have named their match day 26 for Saturday evening’s All-Ireland SFC Round 2 clash in Group 2, which throws in at Dr Hyde Park at 5pm.

The team named to line out is unchanged from the one that started against Dublin at Croke Park last weekend. There is, however, a notable change on the bench where Ben O’Carroll is an absentee. Ronan Daly comes back into the 26 as a result.

Details of the Rossies’ match day panel for Saturday are as follows:

  1. Tough Battle ahead tomorrow evening.
Expect a point or two in it either way .
Paddy a huge loss but that’s what a panel of players is for .
This one not about performance or style .
Just get over the line and win it .
Would be great to beat the Rossies 3 times in one season !!!

  2. A possible dogfight in the making with so much at stake. Can see it being a lot closer than others expect if their forwards are on song.

  3. I wonder if this could be a game for someone like O’Hora to man mark Cox. We can then release Sam Callinan out the pitch to counter the loss of Paddy at RHB. I would prefer to see McLaughlin playing on his natural side. I would also station Stevie Coen at CHB and leave him there.

  4. I’d like to see a good overall convincing performance tomorrow, will we get it I’m not sure but I do think its in them. Hession, Plunkett are the 2 for Paddy’s replacement IMO, both very capable players and have a forward drive.

  5. To dig out a victory in a tight game would be great for momentum and confidence. Not sure we’ll get the room we got against Cavan and I doubt we will be kicking 15 from play. Our intentions need to be made clear from throw in and the “good ladeen” tap on the head stuff has to be met with real opposition immediately. Zero tolerance for that shite.
I hope we still have the steel we were years trying to find.

  6. Bate the Blanket – no idea yet, but another bug bearer the Rossies named their 26 yesterday so why didn’t we name ours. If it was a Sunday game the list has been published on a Friday so for a Saturday game why is it not published on a Thurs. At least keep it consistent so we are not guessing when to expect it…

  7. Not too fussed when team is named but I think GAA miss a golden opportunity by not insisting teams are not made public earlier, very difficult for journalists, we are loosing the publicity war.

  8. JR usually around 11 or 12. Doubt be much changes Aidan or Eoghan for Diarmuid most likely.
Agree on publicity side, i say we will see changes on future on this. GAA have them they can just release them if want.
Rossies even naming the 4 back up lads is nice.

  9. One change. Aidan for Diarmuid

    Colm Reape Knockmore
    Jack Coyne Ballyhaunis

  10. Diarmuid is a massive loss , have to admit hits the confidence a bit but Rossies aren’t great around middle but without diarmuid who’s agile enough to compete with Smyth .
Jordan looks like only option to tag him , also worth noting how light we are for midfielders on bench

  11. McHugh will be on Enda Smith.
Concerned about mobility around middle though. Ruane has come into form in fairness, but Flynn and Carney have been a fair bit off where they can be.

  12. It’s not lack of mobility around the middle it’s the lack of ball winners which has been a problem all season.still though decent enough team .Jesus but diarmaid o Connor is plagued with injury

  13. Doc played v Kerry on Feb 17, got injured v Tyrone and bar his impressive game v cavan has been out since. Very frustrating for the player himself. Mayo need his runs from midfield to open up space. Looking at the subs bench for tomorrow, we are a little light on game changers.

  14. Well it’s a very attacking forward line, with 2 scoring forward in cillian and mchale helping RoD carry the load. So people getting what they wanted there.

Midfield looking v lightweight but the rossies not hectic around that zone either.

Confident of a 5-7 point win now

  15. Is brickenden injured if not extraordinary that he isn’t in the match day squad.this year’s Conor Loftus

  16. Hope Diarmuids injury is short term, but on a positive I’m glad Cillian starts and hopefully we will see some interchange between ROD and Tommy’s positions

  17. Hope Diarmuid’s injury is short term, but on a positive I’m glad Cillian starts and hopefully we will see some interchange between ROD and Tommy’s positions

  18. So at least its no longer a rumour albeit it will still be specualtion of how long whilst in truth vast majority have known since mideeek and how long he will be out for . GAA culture is seriously weird on such matters .

Id of liked to have seen jack coyne make way for enda hession . I fear we could be under a lot of pressure , Diarmuid is underestimated imo , a very important cog . We still should have enough just about but no getting away from the reality weve been dealt two massive blows.

  19. The bench is light and seems to be unbalanced
Not much options around the middle for size and physicality and 4 small forwards, Boland, Towey.McStay and Duffy
Not being able to bring in a physical presence around the middle hurt us against Galway when Flynn and Aiden went off
If McHugh goes to the middle to pick up Smith who takes his place to mark one of the Rosie inside line
