The team for Saturday evening’s FBD match against GMIT under lights at McHale Park (throw-in 7.30pm) has been named and it’s no surprise that it’s the same as the one that was named to face Leitrim in the match that never was last weekend. For the record, here it is:
Mayo (FBD League v GMIT, 15/1/2011): David Clarke (Ballina Stephenites); Cathal Hallinan (Ballintubber), Ger Cafferkey (Ballina Stephenites), Richie Feeney (Castlebar Mitchels); Trevor Howley (Knockmore), Mike Nestor (Ballintubber), Chris Barrett (Belmullet); Ronan McGarrity (Ballina Stephenites), Barry Moran (Castlebar Mitchels); Aidan Campbell (Swinford), Austin O’Malley (St. Vincent’s, Dublin), Aidan Kilcoyne (Knockmore); Kevin Dolan (Tourmakeady), Andy Moran (captain) (Ballaghaderreen), Brian Benson (Crossmolina).
Seeing as it’s the first one under lights and is, after last weekend’s false start, the first outing for James Horan in his shiny new bainisteoir bib, I’m now planning on heading west to view the action at first-hand. Originally, this match wasn’t on my radar at all but I already know that I won’t be able to make it down for the league opener against Down next month so if I’m to see any floodlit action at all at the venue dish ear, this coming Saturday it’ll have to be. The weather forecast for that evening is looking ugly enough at the minute but I guess that’s where that great, big stand comes into its own.
WJ, Mayo News facebook site reporting that the match on Sat evening might not be played under lights after all due to a planning issue with the floodlights!
I thought all that was resolved, but maybe they haven’t fully complied with all the conditions that were set down by An Bord Pleanála.
They report that’s it’s due to be clarified this morning…
Thanks Tubberman – I heard rumours to this effect late last night but I haven’t got any confirmation about it yet. Once I do, I’ll post it here.
