Ray Dempsey has named his starting fifteen for tomorrow afternoon’s Connacht U21 semi-final against Roscommon at Hyde Park (throw-in 4 pm) and he’s decided to stick with the same team that lined out against Leitrim in the last week’s first round. Here’s the team he’s picked:
Mayo (Connacht U21 Championship v Roscommon): Robert Hennelly (Breaffy); Pat Mulchrone (Burrishoole), Shane McHale (Knockmore), Michael Gallagher (Achill); Lee Keegan (Westport), Eoghan Reilly (Castlebar), Sean Prendergast (Claremorris); Shane Nally (Garrymore), Ger McDonagh (Castlebar Mitchels); Cathal Carolan (Crossmolina), Kevin McLoughlin (Knockmore), Jason Doherty (Shrule-Glencorrib); Neill Douglas (Castlebar Mitchels), Aidan O’Shea (Breaffy), Alan Freeman (Aghamore).
This means that Michael Gallagher holds onto the corner-back position with Kevin Keane remaining on the bench. Alan Freeman, whom Johnno said failed at fitness test up at Celtic Park on Saturday evening, is okay again to take his place at top-of-the-left.
Roscommon have also named their side for the Paddy’s Day showdown at the Hyde and here it is:
Roscommon (Connacht U21 Championship v Mayo): Darren OMalley (Michael Glaveys); Jack Sharkey (Kilmore), Neill Collins (Castlerea St Kevins), Michael Higgins (Western Gaels); James Mc Keague (Creggs), Niall Daly (Padraig Pearses), Eamon Bannon (Fuerty); Niall Carty (Padraig Pearses), Kevin Higgins (Western Gaels); Paul Garvey (Kilmore), Cathal Shine (Clann na nGael), Brian Murtagh (St Faithleachs); Alan O’Hara (St Michaels), Donal Shine (Clann na nGael), Niall Kilroy (Fuerty).
The lads at Mayo News have an audio preview of tomorrow’s match.
As far a i know Ballintubber have won the last 2 U21 A county championships, yet there is no ballintubber player in the starting lineup. strange
guber – Jason Gibbons is the one that surprises me, I thought he would have started at midfield with Shane Nally back in the half back line.
no kevin keane …..a bit surprising. maybe thats a good sign. A bit nervous about this one but lookin forward to it all the same.
Kevin Keane starts for injured M Gallagher. J Gibbons has pulled out of panel
Whats the story with jason doherty? Why did he leave burrishoole?
The fact that kevin keane is not playing is a big blow in his development, hes physically strong so thats not the reason,he just must not be god enough which is sad because i felt he was going to be our full back at senior level in the neext couple of years, even pushing ger this year
Do you know why sunday sport have not shown highlights of the last 2 mayo matches and they dont appear to be showing any for the kerry game either
