Support Regina’s fight for life

It goes without saying, of course, that there’ll be a keen sense of rivalry between ourselves and the neighbours at MacHale Park tomorrow evening. In one important respect, however, those converging on Castlebar for the game should make it their business to be on the same side.

Many of you will already know of Regina Duffy’s story. The Westport native, who teaches at St Colman’s College in Claremorris and is married to Jason Donoghue from Tuam, is suffering from a rare form of cancer, for which she requires specialist treatment in the United States.

Some months ago Regina’s family launched a major fundraising drive to support the provision of this treatment. As part of this, a collection will held outside MacHale Park tomorrow night so fans will encounter this fundraising effort as they approach the ground. It’s hoped that Mayo and Galway supporters alike heading to the game will give generously to support this very worthy appeal.

Further information on Regina’s Fight for Life is available on Facebook (here) and donations may also be made via Go Fund Me (here).

  1. Great to see this highlighted here, fantastic fundraising going on in both counties for Regina’s on going battle.
Wishing herself and Jayo all the best.
Tuamstars and Westport club members are holding the bucket collection tomorrow evening.

  2. -Thanks so much WJ for highlighting this, I am from the same little village as Regina and I will be one of the people collecting tomorrow night.
    – Bucket collections outside matches are usually for more mundane causes, this cause is a very worthy one.
    – Come on Mayo

  3. Indeed – great to see this being highlighted here and hoping wishing every success in terms of the collection of funds and the treatment Regina eventually receives.

  4. Clarke starts in goal Darren Coen and James Durcan in full forward line with Jason Doc.

  5. J Horan consistent with his rotation policy!! Great to see m Ruane getting the 2nd start, surprised Robbie not named. Looking forward to seeing Darren Coen and Durkan in full forward line., I was hoping Reape would get the start again, I know he wasn’t great v Dublin but definitely showed aggression, his swipe at Cooper alone deserved him a start!!! But I trust james, he’s checking out lads in important games! Looking forward to it.
