Team named for Sunday’s final

The team for Sunday’s minor All-Ireland final against Tyrone has been named (see the Mayo GAA website for official confirmation).  It’s the same side that lined out in the semi-final replay with Kerry and reads as follows:

Robert Hennelly; David Dolan, Kevin Keane, John Broderick; Shane McHale, Eoin Reilly, Shane Nally; James Cafferty, Ger McDonagh; Cathal Freeman, Aiden O’Shea, Raymond Geraghty; John Carney, Aiden Walsh, Alex Corduff.

I know that Ray Dempsey said earlier in the week that the team they’d announce might not bear much resemblance to the one that would begin the final but with Aiden O’Shea now the only remaining injury worry for us, the line-up above could well be our starting fifteen for Sunday.

  1. Willie Joe

Just a reminder that the Club Mayo draws for each of July, August and September are to take place tomorrow night (Thursday) in Jurys Hotel Croke Park at 9. All welcome.

We are awaiting final details on ticket allocation for the All Ireland Final – full news will be available tomorrow night.

  2. young carney started the replay in place of o’hara and did really well. I think he picked up an injury but I hope he is ok for the final as he really impressed with his work rate and bravery , both necessary qualities im sure come sunday

  3. I agree, Carney was very unlucky not to start…he filled his role as roving third midfielder brililantly in limerick. I haven’t heard anything about him being injured can anyone confirm??

  4. Thats the only thing im surprised about. John Carney was great the last day in the sweeper position. Could see him starting if not injured

  5. Apologies, guys – John Carney is named in the team for Sunday with Daniel O’Hara on the bench. I’ve amended the post above accordingly. You are correct, of course, Albany that John Carney did start the replay and the team named for the final is the same as the one that started in Limerick.
