Team to play Waterford named

We’ve named our team to play Waterford in Sunday’s LGFA NFL Division One Round 7 clash at James Stephen’s Park, Ballina, (throw-in 2pm). Here it is:

Mayo (LGFA NFL Division One v Waterford, 24/3/2024): Laura Brennan (Hollymount); Fiona McHale (Carnacon), Nicola O’Malley (Westport), Danielle Caldwell (Castlebar Mitchels); Kathryn Sullivan (Castlebar Mitchels), Erin Murray (Ballyhaunis), Jenna Mortimer (Hollymount); Aoife Geraghty (Westport, captain), Hannah Reape (Knockmore); Fionnuala McLaughlin (Westport), Alana Fitzpatrick (Claremorris), Maria Cannon (Burrishoole); Sinéad Cafferky (Kilmovee Shamrocks), Lisa Cafferky (Kilmovee Shamrocks), Sinéad Walsh (MacHale Rovers).

So it’s just one change from the team that lined out last weekend against Armagh. Into the team comes Fiona McHale (who was named to play last time out but didn’t, with Danielle Caldwell starting instead) and she replaces captain Saoirse Lally. In her absence, Aoife Geraghty will lead the team out to play the Deise on Sunday.

If you’re planning on heading Ballina for the game the ticket link for it is here. Don’t forget that you can also watch a live stream provided by the LGFA (match pass €10) – details here.

The best of luck to Liam McHale and his charges on Sunday.

  2. Sad to hear about Ger Brady. May he Rest in Peace. ?. Very happy with that Mayo team and some very interesting selections, both personnel and positional. Rory Byrne might suggest there is a gk position up for grabs,, Aido at MF, where he spends a lot of time anyway(we probably need his physicality there), Aaron and Darren deserve a chance, Frank Irwin getting a chance, great to see Plunkett, Paddy, David Mc and Cillian back, Towey and particularly interesting to see Ryan at CF, as many here have suggested. A lot of lads being given a chance to put their hands up.
