The long weekend’s matches

There are football, hurling and camogie matches involving the county taking place this Bank Holiday weekend. Here’s what you need to know about them.

On Friday the U17 footballers are back in action in Round 4 of the Connacht Championship. With wins over Roscommon and Galway already in the bag, the lads will be looking to seal their place in the knockout stage – possibly the final itself – when they play Leitrim.

The match takes place at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park where throw-in is 7pm. The ticket link is here and the link for the live stream being provided by Connacht GAA (match pass €10) is here.

On Saturday it’s camogie, in the form of Round 1 of the All-Ireland U16 C Championship. We’re playing Donegal in that game, which is fixed for Castlebar Mitchels GAA club where throw-in is 2pm. The ticket link is here.

Few need reminding about what’s taking place on Sunday. It is, of course, the provincial El Clásico, with ourselves and Galway butting heads in the Connacht SFC final, which takes place at Pearse Stadium where throw-in is 4pm.

The match will be shown live on RTÉ and Midwest will also provide live radio commentary on it. The ticket link is here and tickets may also be purchased at participating Centra and SuperValu outlets.

Finally, on Bank Holiday Monday the focus is on hurling. Hastings Insurance MacHale Park is the venue for the U20 All-Ireland B semi-final between ourselves and Roscommon, which throws in at 2pm. Entry to this one is free of charge.

The best of luck to all the Mayo teams in action this coming weekend.
