The weekend’s matches

The weekend is fast approaching so it’s time for a quick run-down on the matches involving teams from the county that are coming up over the next few days.

We may as well start with the big one. That’s the footballers’ Division One Round 4 clash with Tyrone at Healy Park, Omagh, on Saturday evening. Throw-in for this game is at the earlier time of 5.15pm, Kildare’s Brendan Cawley is the ref and the match is being shown live on RTÉ2 and the RTÉ Player, with live radio commentary by Midwest.

The link for purchasing tickets for the game is here. Note that our match is the second game in a double-header at Healy Park on Saturday, which also features a National Hurling League 2B clash between Tyrone and Donegal. That curtain-raiser encounter gets underway at 3pm.

On Sunday the county’s hurlers take on Cavan in Round 3 of NHL Division 3A. The hurlers have two wins from two outings so far and are top of the table, while Cavan have one win and one defeat from their two games.

This match takes place at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park and throw-in on Sunday is 2pm. The link for purchasing tickets to it is here.

There are also two important Post-Primary Schools Championship matches involving Mayo teams on this weekend.

On Saturday Ballyhaunis Community School take on St Malachy’s of Castlewellan, Down, in the Dr Eamonn O’Sullivan Cup semi-final (i.e. the Senior C Schools Championship). The venue for this match is St Matthews Park, Crosskeys in Cavan where throw-in is 1pm on Saturday. The link for tickets for it is here.

On Sunday St Gerald’s College are up against Omagh CBS of Tyrone in the semi-final of the Hogan Cup. This game takes place at Ballyshannon in Donegal where throw-in is 2pm and the ticket link for it is here.

This match will also be streamed live on YouTube by TG4 (here). As I always do for YouTube live streams of matches that are of interest, I’ll pop it up on the blog here as well for ease of viewing.

Finally, off the field, this is GAA Annual Congress weekend, further details on which you’ll find here.
