The weekend’s matches

The county is involved in two football Championship matches this weekend, the first of which involves the Minors and the second the ladies. Here are the details you need on these games.

The Minors face Cork in the All-Ireland quarter-final on Saturday. The match is being played at Cusack Park in Ennis – which so often has been a happy hunting ground for us – and it forms part of an U17 double-header at the venue.

Our quarter-final against the Rebels throws in at 4.30pm and that’s followed at 6.30pm by the match between Kerry and Roscommon. The ticket link for this double-header is here and tickets are also available from selected Centra and SuperValu outlets.

The game is being streamed live by TG4 via YouTube, the link for which is here. I’ll embed the YouTube feed here on the blog as well for ease of viewing. There will also be live commentary on the game on Midwest where Rob will be doing the commentary.

On Sunday the group stage of the LGFA All-Ireland Championship gets underway and we’ve a tough opener, in which we face defending All-Ireland champions Dublin. This game is on at Parnell Park up here in the capital, where throw-in is at the rather unusual time of 2.50pm. The ticket link for this one is here.

This match will be shown live on TG4 and Midwest will also have live commentary on it. Mike is doing the honours there so, between himself at Parnell Park and Rob at Ennis the day before, it’s pretty much a podcast takeover of the airwaves this weekend.

We’ll also have Final Whistle pods from both Cusack Park on Saturday and from Parnell Park on Sunday. Both of those shows will be up on Patreon as soon as possible after the respective matches end.

The best of luck to the two Mayo teams in action this weekend.

  1. Best of luck to minors and ladies team. Interesting to see how minors go. At that age anything can happen on the day. They deserved to win connacht but its hard to know what level they are at or where their opposition are at. Anyone any knowledge on Cork minors?

  2. We’re heading for Ennis tomorrow and hope we have as good a time as we had in 2006 at the same venue when the U21s beat Cork in the All Ireland final. Hard to believe it’s 18 yrs ago.

  3. It sure was Tommy+Joe.
I’ve only witnessed our county win 3 All Ireland’s ”in the flesh ” and 2 of them were there so ya,happy hunting ground indeed.
Hoping for another positive result there tomorrow.

  4. It’s there in the post I did on the weekend’s matches, Toad ted. It’s being streamed by TG4 Sport on YouTube and I’ll embed the stream here on the blog as well.

  5. For anyone not going to Ennis today I believe all 4 quarter finals are on TG4 YouTube.
    13.00 Derry/Dublin
    15.00 Longford/Armagh
    16.30 Mayo/Cork
    18.30 Kerry/Roscommon

  6. We got our tickets the day they came out because I was sure they’d be sold out in no time. My brother will make the trip up from outside Fermoy as he does every time. A lot of folk saying they want games with a bit of jeopardy on them, well all games from here on have that.
